Dulles Area Association of Realtors® Announces Appointment of New CEO
The Dulles Area Association of Realtors® (DAAR) has announced that the Board of Directors unanimously elected Christine Windle as Chief Executive Officer effective February 22, 2016. Windle succeeds current CEO, Jeanette Newton, who announced her retirement after 25 years of service.
“After a thorough selection process that included over 90 applicants, the Board of Directors is delighted that Christine will lead DAAR as we navigate through the evolving and expanding landscape of private property rights,” said Lars Henriksen, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Christine has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges that DAAR faces, as well as the needs of the brokers and agents in Loudoun County. I have no doubt that she is the right person to take the helm at DAAR.”
The Board of Directors appointed a Search Committee that worked with an outside executive search firm to help guide them through the search process. The Search Committee included members of the Board of Directors, past Chairs, as well as an outside vendor representative. “The search firm presented us with a range of talented candidates with years of association management experience. It was Christine’s knowledge of Loudoun County and her strong relationship with our Realtor® members that stood out against the other contenders,” noted Sue Smith, Search Committee Chair.
“I am honored that the DAAR Board of Directors chose me to follow in the footsteps of Jeanette, a truly iconic CEO and wonderful mentor,” said Windle.
“I’ve had the pleasure of serving the association in a position that was both fulfilling and enjoyable. DAAR is family to me, and I know that the Leadership used the best resources to find the most qualified person to fill my position. I will be pleased to work with Christine during the transition,“ said Newton.
Windle has served DAAR for over nine years as the Director of Public Policy and Communications where she focuses on the development and implementation of the Association’s government affairs, public relations and communications programs. Prior to joining DAAR, she was the Community Development Policy Representative at the National Association of REALTORS®, where she monitored and worked on affordable housing, smart growth and quality of life-related issues.
Christine earned her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and Bachelor of Arts, Political Science/Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Christine is very active in her community where she serves as an at-large member of the Loudoun County Government’s Housing Advisory Board and Vice Chair of the Loudoun Valley High School Parent Teacher Organization.
She and her husband, Charlie, reside in Purcellville with their sons Charlie and Jacob.
