November Government Affairs Committee Meeting Guest Speaker: Loudoun County Supervisor Geary Higgins

On November 7, 2018, members of the Government Affairs Committee will meet with Supervisor Geary Higgins. The Committee invited Supervisor Higgins in order to learn more about his priorities and areas of focus on the Board of Supervisors and as Chairman of the Transportation and Land Use Committee, as well as the critical issue of housing availability and affordability in Loudoun County.

Supervisor Higgins was elected to represent the Catoctin District on the Board of Supervisors in November 2011 and re-elected in 2015. He serves as Chair of the Board’s Transportation and Land Use Committee and is a member of the Joint Board of Supervisors/School Board Committee, having previously served as co-chair of that committee. He is one of two of the Board’s representatives on the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and serves as the Board’s representative on the Loudoun County Agricultural District Advisory Committee and the Annexation Area Development Policy Committee.

2018 Government Affairs Committee: Omni Casey, Chair; Mike Wagner, Vice Chair; Brenda Morton, Liaison. The Committee monitors local, state and national proposed legislation; recommends and coordinates appropriate calls to action with the state and national associations; keeps membership informed on issues and promotes involvement; and makes recommendations to the DAAR Board of Directors on new legislative issues and prioritization of issues.
