Call for Action: Virginia Assembly Health Insurance Legislation

On Friday, January 25, 2019, the Virginia REALTORS® launched an all-member Call For Action on several health insurance related bills being considered by the Virginia General Assembly.  While these bills approach the problem in different ways, each could open the door for more coverage options for our members.

Senate Bill 1689 (Dunnavant) – Allows certain associations to form a benefits consortium to sell benefits plans to its members.

Senate Bill 1351 (Wagner) – Allows certain associations to form a benefits consortium to sell benefits plans to its members.

Senate Bill 1353 (Wagner) – Defines “sponsoring associations” in connection with health care plans in the small employer market.

Senate Bill 1712 (Vogel) – Defines “sponsoring associations” in connection with health care plans in the small employer market.

House Bill 2443 (Wilt) – Defines “sponsoring associations” in connection with health care plans in the small employer market.

Senate Bill 1475 (Deeds) – Expands the definition of “small employer” for the purposes of accessing health care plans in the small employer market.

House Bill 2719 (Pillion) – Expands the definition of “small employer” for the purposes of accessing health care plans in the small employer market.

These bills will be heard in their respective committees next week, so we’re pushing the message this weekend and early next week.
