2020 DAAR Awards Nominees and Winners
The Dulles Area Association of REALTORS® recognized several members who reached exceptional levels in the real estate industry in 2020. They were honored and celebrated at the DAAR REALTOR® Awards Reception on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Alamo Drive-In Movie Theater. Click below to view images from the celebration.
The awards include the annual REALTOR® of the Year, Jeanette Newton Community Leadership Award, and inductees in the Circle of Excellence. DAAR also announced recipients of the Rookie of the Year, Affiliate of the Year, Educator of the Year, Team and Individual Production Winners, and DAAR Membership Anniversaries.

Jeanette Newton Community Leadership Award
The Jeanette Newton Community Leadership Award recognizes REALTORS® and Affiliates who have made an extraordinary commitment to improving the quality of life in their communities through their volunteer work. The recipient portrays a dedication to leadership, community and public service, humanitarianism and courage. A contribution to a charity or organization of the winner’s choice will be made in the winner’s name.
The Jeanette Newton Community Leadership Award was established in honor of Jeanette Newton, who served as the Chief Executive Officer of DAAR from 1991-2016. Newton initiated several community service programs for the Association including the Habitat/RPAC Golf Tournament, Rebuilding Together/Christmas in April, Charity Auction and DAAR member participation in the Babe Ruth World Series. She served on various board and commissions including Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Loudoun Board of Equalization.
Winner: Sue Puleo, BHHS / PenFed Realty
Sue is the Managing Broker of BHHS Pen Fed Realty. Sue believes in giving anything she is involved with, everything she has. Sue is a multiple DAAR Circle of Excellence award winner, 5 Time DAAR Top Producer, a DAAR Past President, Past Board of Directors member, and the 2012 DAAR REALTOR® of the Year.
Sue has demonstrated immense commitment toward community service and activism. She followed in Jeanette’s footsteps by devoting over 20 years to the real estate industry, community, and public service efforts. Sue portrays a dedication to leadership, community and public service, humanitarianism and courage.
DAAR Rookie of the Year
The recipient of this award generated sales volume of $3 million or more or they had 24 transactions in 2020.
Winner: Emily Marentette, Keller Williams
In her first year as a REALTOR® Emily completed 8 transactions and had sales volume over $6 Million. Emily is committed to providing an exceptional home buying and home selling experience for her clients. She believes that knowledge of the real estate market, combined with personalized and timely communications are the best recipe for success.
Educator of the Year
This award is based on the outstanding contributions of an Affiliate Member to the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS® and to the real estate industry. This award recognizes an Affiliate for his or her involvement in the association and whose efforts have benefitted the association and its membership.
Winner: Robin Frank, Brown-Carrera Realty
Robin had been a member of DAAR for almost 25 years. And she has over 25 years of experience in Real Estate Investing, Sales, and Management Services. She has been the Managing Broker of Brown-Carrera Realty since 2001.
Robin has been teaching at DAAR for over 3 years and in that time, she’s taught “Working with renters,” Real Estate Law & Board Regulations.”
Affiliate of the Year
This award is based on the outstanding contributions of an Affiliate Member to the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS® and to the real estate industry. This award recognizes an Affiliate for his or her involvement in the association and whose efforts have benefitted the association and its membership.

Sherry Skinner has been a member of DAAR for 4 years and is currently a GOLD level sponsor. Sherry is a Client Services Manager for Interstate Moving and Storage, Inc. based in Springfield, Virginia. She focuses on Business Development in the Real Estate Industry to help provide solutions for sellers and buyers who are need of professional moving and storage services.
DAAR Circle of Excellence
This award recognizes our REALTOR® members who go above and beyond by giving their time and energy to the industry, community, and Association.
The selection process begins with a thorough overview of the submitted nomination applications by the Awards Committee. The Committee reviews each application with a list of criteria based on the following categories:
• Sales production requirements
• Real estate education
• Industry involvement
• RPAC, local, state, and national activity
• Charitable/civic involvement.
Each application is given a score based on the accomplished merits of the nominee. This score is known as the Level of Excellence. Based on the score, nominees can fall into these levels of Excellence:
• Platinum Inductee nominees meet requirements in all categories and achieve 75 points or more.
• Gold Inductee nominees meet requirements in all categories and achieves 60 points or more.
• Silver Inductee nominees meet requirements in 2 of 3 categories and achieves 45 points or more.
